SCP-XXXX during testing.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is stored in a standard object storage locker in Site-96, which is to be kept at a constant 20°C. Under no circumstances is SCP-XXXX to be exposed to any open flames or flammable materials.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an M1857 12-pounder "Napoleon" field cannon with a turquoise barrel, identical to the type commonly used during the American Civil War. SCP-XXXX's primary anomalous quality manifests anytime it is fired. Ammunition is not required, and SCP-XXXX has been proven to activate simply by igniting its internal gunpowder reserve with no loaded shot. Several attempts have been made to empty its gunpowder reserve, but all have resulted in failure, due to a small irremovable layer of gunpowder coating the inside of the powder reserve.

Whenever SCP-XXXX is activated, a percentage of it disappears from the perception of any individual who heard the resounding report. The individual will be unable to see or interact with the affected portion of SCP-XXXX, with any attempts to initiate physical contact resulting in the individual and any objects they are holding passing directly through it.

The percentage of SCP-XXXX that disappears is directly proportional to the volume of the cannon report. Various levels of volume have been recorded, from 45 decibels resulting in a the wheels of the cannon growing slightly more transparent, to a maximum of 200 decibels resulting in a total disappearance of the cannon1

Incident XXXX.1: On December 14, 2017, SCP-XXXX was activated due to improper storage conditions. The gunpowder reserve was not emptied properly, and the SCP-XXXX's property affected the single personnel member in the room, Janitor Timothy. Sue to the load volume, Nicolas' eardrums were heavily damaged, but he managed to place a call to the security department before collapsing. Transcript attached.

Jameson: This is Foundation Security, what is your issue?

Timothy: HELLO?!

Jameson: Hello, yes, I can hear you. Please state your issue.

Timothy: I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Jameson: I REPEAT, WHAT IS YOUR ISSUE?

Timothy: AH! SCP-XXXX HAS PARTIALLY BREACHED CONTAINMENT!

Jameson: SITE SECURITY ARE ON ROUTE TO YOUR LOCATION! I'M PULLING UP MY FILES ON SCP-XXXX NOW!

Timothy: HURRY UP, IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE SHOT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD!

Away from Jameson's headset:

Unidentified Employee: God, will you try to keep it down? Some of us are trying to work.

Jameson: I'M working to solve a breach, which is more than you've done all day, Martha. Stay in your lane.

On Jameson's headset:

Jameson: WELL, IT APPEARS THE ANOMALY IS SAFE-CLASS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN DANGER. SIT TIGHT AND WAIT FOR SECURITY.

Timothy: ARE YOU NEW? EVERYONE KNOWS OBJECT CLASS MEASURES DIFFICULTY TO CONTAIN, NOT DANGER! THAT'S WHY WE HAVE PANSY-ASS THREAT LEVELS!

Jameson: SIR, FOUNDATION THREAT LEVELS ARE A RAISA-APPROVED METHOD OF QUANTIFYING THE DANGER AN ANOMALY POSES. ANYWAY, MY FILES SAY SCP-XXXX IS A CIVIL WAR CANNON. IS THIS ACCURATE?!

Timothy: NO!

Jameson: CAN YOU ELABORATE ON THAT?

Timothy: THERE IS NO CANNON!

Jameson: I DON'T UNDERSTAND, ALL THE FILES SAY THAT THERE IS A CANNON?

Timothy: FUCK THE FILES, I'VE BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT I'M SEEING, AND THERE IS NO CANNON!

Jameson: But.. the files all match up. If there's no cannon… are there any SCPs?

Timothy: SPEAK UP, ASSHOLE!

Jameson: STAY CALM, A SECURITY TEAM IS ON THEIR WAY!

Jameson also notified a RAISA officer of a possible informational hazard at the site of the breach.
