SCP-XXXX is the designation given to a phenomenon that affects Homo sapiens resulting in affected individuals following one another, forming a continuous circle. It is caused by the anomalous production of the trail pheromone, Y-802, which does not naturally occur in humans.
SCP-XXXX events typically include between two and twenty affected individuals. However, due to the inherently social nature of human beings, SCP-XXXX events can consist of millions of affected individuals.
The biological reason for the production of Y-802 in human beings is not fully understood, but analysis conducted by the Foundation has identified two causes for why humans begin to anomalously produce the chemical.
- Primary Cause: Individual undergoes extreme psychological stress resulting in disassociation from human society.
- Secondary Cause: Exposure to Y-802 will result in the individual producing said chemical.
In most cases, individuals that are affected by Y-802 express that they have no recollection of any events that occur whilst under the influence of said pheromone. Those affected by Y-802 recall experiencing an intense feeling of euphoria.
In a minute percentage of cases (0.5%), affected individuals are able to recall the events of SCP-XXXX. Further information concerning these cases requires Level 4 clearance.
Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX display no evidence of self-preservation instincts. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will eventually expire from exhaustion if the SCP-XXXX event is not interrupted.
