Special Containment Procedures: As of 10/05/06, containment has not been secured. Cooperation with the Global Occult Coalition is to be maintained regarding information about SCP-8888, as long as the containment treaty is secured. UMTF-Rho-77 are to maintain a constant bi-monthly rotor inside the Wanderer's Library through the use of a random number generator and interact with SCP-8888 where possible.
Description: SCP-8888 appears as a 25-30 year old male of Middle Eastern decent, approximately 1.8-2.0 meters tall. Its body appears outwardly indestinguishable from that of a normal human, apart from two wings spanning roughly 1.82 meters in length, emerging 0.5 centimeters from the edge of SCP-8888's shoulderblade. A feather sample has been obtained from GOI-15 "Global Occult Coalition", along with further medical logs.
Medical logs describe the absence of all internal vital systems, with only the skeletal system, muscular system and nervous system present. Blood samples of SCP-8888 show unusually high levels of Gallium and Mercury, and absorbs all light directed at its surface under 300 lux. Blood samples emit low levels of Hume readings, though SCP-8888 is not capable of thaumaturgy or reality bending of any type. Subject shows incredible healing factor, able to fully recover two (2) days after being shot with approx. 30 rounds of 5.56mm ammo at point blank range.
SCP-8888's wings have not been studied extensively. Feather composition appears to be mostly similar to that of a "Diomedea exulans" (wandering albatross), though feather colour and pattern differ greatly. What is seen inside of SCP-8888's feathers varies heavily from observer to observer, but the most widely accepted description is that of space within the subject's wings, or a sense of depth. Reports described different pitched hums eminating from the feathers when pushed together, though control tests cannot replicate this effect.
Subject is, according to eyewitness testimonials and civillian interview, generally cordial and pleasant to interact with. Its topics of conversation range in variety, though consistent topics across accounts are as follows:
- Philosophy
- Metaphysics
- Alchemy and Transmutation
- The Library of Alexandria
- Topics of special interest or old areas of study depending on the person
- Mention of an entity known as Eternity (henseforth known as SCP-8888-2).
Though apparently cordial, SCP-8888 has not interacted with Foundation personnel assigned to it, outside of covert operations.
Subject frequently travels in wide, circular flight patterns over cities and townsteads with known anomalous population or GOI presence, though notably avoids areas of undercover Foundation activity and anomalous areas under Foundation observations. SCP-8888 does not appear to avoid the Wanderer's Library, despite its seemingly inate knowledge of Foundation movements.
SCP-8888-2 has not been expanded upon fully by interviewees; 78% of those interviewed state that SCP-8888 did not ever mention Eternity. Those that were told do not have a recollection of being told, and mnestic treatment is needed to gain more information. SCP-8888-2 are, according to interviewees, SCP-8888's wings. Further information is deemed unreliable, as only 10% of interviewees retained brain function after being asked to further elaborate on details, and all accounts gathered bare no resemblance to each other. The four (4) accounts describing SCP-8888-2 in further detail can be found attached to this document.
All extraneous detail has been omitted from the description, and all cognitohazards expunged.

Description |
| ████ Adams |
A part of an anomalous hiking group that frequents the Wanderer's Library. Reportedly interacted with SCP-8888 multiple times, but cannot remember the specifics of any of their conversations. |
"[…] Well, he never told me anything too specific. I remember him describing [SCP-8888-2] as .. shackles? I laughed and told him he had wings, he could literally go anywhere, and all he retorted with was 'But I cannot go where you go'. I got what he meant pretty quickly. Immortality's a bitch, you know? […] No, it's not like that. I never got the impression [SCP-8888-2] was sentient or anything, just … there. Always and forever." |
| ███████ Rood |
Part of GOI-4 "Are We Cool Yet?". Interviewee was under Foundation custody for four (4) months before overhearing a researcher talk about SCP-8888, and claimed they knew "a thing or two". The researcher was reprimanded, and ███████ was brought in for interview. |
"He's a bit of a chatterbox, I'll be real with you - never once let me get a word in or anything, just kept droning on and on about the Library he went to or whatever. […] I told him I made anomalous art, and he seemed familiar with AWCY? and their work. […] Apparently, [SCP-8888-2] was a gift from AWCY? to him years and years ago - attached them to his back and everything. […] All of our work is sentient, so they have to be as well, right? |
| Jeniveve McArthur |
A part of the Alchemy Division at Site-███. Contacted Project Lead after several books inside of the Alchemy Department were marked as authored by SCP-8888. Due to the Alchemy Department's unique work-force secrecy, even inside of the Foundation, mnestic treatment was administered to learn more. |
"[COGNITOHAZARD EXPUNGED]. Those wings are the Devil's wings - Liseo doesn't like sitting around, no. Every piece of information fathered by mankind is retained on those wings - he could kill all of us if he wanted to. And I don't even think he knows that - the single, unknowable piece of knowledge that could fundimentally change all of us." |
| ████████ |
A frequenter of the Wanderer's Library, POI-8888;7MCD. Suspected involvement with GOI groups. Known Reality Bender, placed under watch by the Foundation three (3) years ago. |
"It's impossible to tell people like you what Eternity is. That's the truth - the truth that your minds hold a skewed perception of the word even in your mind's eye. A unified entity, two halves of a whole; ying and yang? All of these things are words that people came up with to describe the unknowable. And what is the unknowable but your own perception? Whatever [SCP-8888-2] may or may not be, don't you think it's wise to stop asking questions?" |
Interaction Logs
AUDIO LOG
DATE: 04/12/2000
NOTE: The first recorded Foundation interaction with SCP-8888. UMFT DELTA-FOXTROT was alerted to SCP-8888's presence inside of the Wanderer's Library via spider drones placed by internal Foundation agents.
[BEGIN LOG]
D-F: Excuse me?
SCP-8888 makes a shushing sound, quickly followed by hushed laughter.
8888: Not so loud, friend. Even if you're a new member, the librarians don't like noises.
D-F: Oh! I'm sorry; I was wondering if you could give me a quick rundown of where to find—
SCP-8888's wings rustle, creating a sound that echoes into the microphone in D-F's pocket. It's similar to a harp, though D-F later stated it sounded vaguely human.
8888: Where to find books on the anomalous?
D-F: What? How did you know that?
8888: People are their most obvious self whenever they're nervous. Come, no need to be afraid - the closest bookshelf from here would be … oh, quite a walk away.
D-F: That's fine, I'm in no rush.
8888: Oh, I know. But there's no use delaying - that bookshelf won't get any closer. At least, not until the end of next week.
No speech is recorded for an interdermined amount of time. Despite this audial silence, D-F reported talking to SCP-8888 extensively on the topic of Metaphysics, which D-F specialized in for many years.
D-F: Do you have a name I can call you by? I want to ask more questions, but I don't have anything to say without a name.
8888: Ah-ah, I'm afraid I cannot tell you that, my friend. Names are power, and in the Wanderer's Library, there are no names. Just titles. Please just refer to me as Liseo.
D-F: Okay, thank you .. Liseo. I wanted to ask .. how did you know I was new here? You could walk for weeks and not know I was in here.
SCP-8888's wings rustle again. This time, the feedback from the microphone is perportedly audible, though SCP-8888 does not seem to react.
8888: Oh, that's simple. The floor didn't like you yet.

DATE: 10/05/2001
NOTE: Due to the harmonic frequency emitted by SCP-8888's wings, UMTF ECHO-CHARLIE was fitted with a Hume Resistant Type 3 Microphone to avoid feedback.
[BEGIN LOG]
8888: Pardon me - might you be lost?
E-C: Oh? No no, goodness, no - I appear to have stumbled down the wrong bookshelf. Wasn't 9932-B here a few days ago?
8888: You didn't hear? A group calling themselves the Choas Insurgency tried to set fire to 9932-B.
E-C has been stationed inside of the Wanderer's Library for upwards of three weeks, and reported to Site Command that no such incident ever occured.
E-C: Truly? That's abhorrent.
8888: I do not lie; I cannot lie. Some books were lost. I wonder if I should rewrite them.
E-C: Rewrite? You're an author yourself?
SCP-8888 takes off momentarily to reach the higher shelves. E-C's microphone picks up the same ressonance D-F's microphone did, but with no feedback. Hume levels measured at 35.
8888: I wrote alchemical books, a long time ago. I'm more dedicated to reading than writing nowadays, but I still do write occassionally.
E-C: All of these books are ancient. You wrote them?
8888: Rewrote. The loss of knowledge is the loss of ourselves.
E-C: I … see. Thank you for informing me. I'll be on my way.
NOTES: Three weeks after SCP-8888 commented about the Chaos Insurgency, A-R reported to Site Command that Chaos Insurgents had attacked the Wanderer's Library, specifically targetting bookshelf 9932-B.

DATE: 11/11/2002
NOTE: UMTF ALPHA-ROMEO's microphone was not fitted correctly at time of conversation with SCP-8888. Hume readings were not being measured, and it is assumed that feedback was not surpressed. UMTF ALPHA-ROMEO has not been recovered.
[BEGIN LOG]
A-R's microphone begins picking up interferance before SCP-8888 contact is established.
A-R: What? … Oh, fuckin' thing ..
8888: You know, at least your friends were polite about their transgretions.
A-R: What?! Where the hell did you come from?!
A-R is noted to be in a hightened state of agitation.
8888: The noise from that microphone is too loud to be proper equipment; you can't be with your friends, can you? They were far more professional.
A-R: What—
8888: Does the cat stray from the pauper?
A-R's microphone explodes. All additional audio is captured through A-R's neural link with their phone.
8888: [COGNITOHAZARD EXPUNGED]
A-R is heard screaming, though briefly. The librarians of the Wanderer's Library open the floor, and contact is lost.
